My name is Jayson Gerdes, I have a Bristol
29 hull # 11 built in 1967. I purchased her in July 2008 for $2000 as is
were is, (Sarnia, Ontario.) and was sailing her by the end of august. I
hope you can add her to the list of b29's in your links, I visit
your site often and love to read the stories of the boats, sailing and
the pictures.amazing stuff. I have redone the bottom below the water
line as it had a lot of osmosis blisters. The original owner modified
the boat by adding a spade type rudder further aft. And it works fine.
The original rudder is still there and was bolted in the straight
position but I feel this is not very solid so I will probably glass it
some time soon.another modification is they took out he stove and
installed a refrigerator in that space. It still has the original
graymarine gas engine, it still runs fine and I can see there has been a
lot of work on it over the years.parts are scarce, and when the time
comes I will probably replace it with a new diesel. I have changed all
of the sheets, and started to replace the toerails. The sails are not
recent but are ok, the boat sailed fine this past fall and we had a lot
fun on lake Huron where we currently live. I aim to upgrade and restore
my bristol to a coastal cruiser and my ambitious long term plans after I
retire is to singlhand it down to brazil, where my wife is from.
