Standing Rigging

(Look here for my work on the chainplates)

I have decided to replace all the standing rigging wire on the Bristol. I am doing this only to obtain a clean survey and proper insurance on the boat and not because I believe there is any weakness in the wire. It is all 304 1/19 stainless, added new to the boat in 1989 and in perfect shape. I do not hold with typical riggers' belief that rigging wire must be replaced every five years. That is just marketing hype for their business, in my opinion. However, I am happy to spend some money in this down economy, although I will do all the rigging myself--not trust my boat to someone I don't know. The wire will be 316L stainless 1/19, the mechanical fittings will be Hi-MOD from Hayn. At this point these are mostly notes to myself--I will replace the rigging as my budget allows and update this page accordingly.
